Why Choose Entomology and Plant Pathology?
Studying entomology and plant pathology prepares you for a career that can take you any direction you choose, and our department at the University of Arkansas offers you the ideal starting point for that career.
If science and innovation are to your liking, the study of insects, plants and their relation to human life offer a vast array of research opportunities, including molecular biology, physiological processes, biological control, virology, netamology, ecosystem functions, community ecology, disease epidemiology and more. Graduates of our programs often find employment in agriculture, food safety, human health, government work, biotechnology and other science and research-related industries.
The Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology at the University of Arkansas offers the only Plant Pathology graduate program in the state and is accredited through the Graduate School of the University of Arkansas by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.
Masters Degree Programs
The Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology offers two M.S. degree options. Students can choose from a Master of Science degree in Entomology or a Master of Science degree in Plant Pathology.
Ph.D. Program
The department offers an Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences doctoral degree with the option to choose a concentration in either Entomology (AFLSPH-ENTO) or Plant Pathology (AFLSPH-PLPA).
Funding your Degree
Funding for academic programs is available to students who qualify. The Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology offers scholarships, assistantships and fellowships.
Undergraduate Minor & Courses
While there is no undergraduate major in entomology or plant pathology, students can complete minors within our department. There are also a variety of departmental courses that can be taken by undergraduate students.
