Soybean seedling diseases
Management of Pythium spp., in soybean has been accomplished by using fungicide seed treatments, cultural practices but host resistance hasn’t been fully explored. The focus of my research have been to study the use of fungicide seed treatment for the control of seedling diseases in soybean, where fungicides with broad spectrum have shown to be more effective in the control of Pythium spp., Fusarium spp., and Rhizoctonia solani. Also I have studied the inheritance of Pythium aphanidermatum resistance in soybeans. Two Quantitative trait loci (QTL) have been found to govern the inheritance of resistance of Pythium aphanidermatum. My interest is to study the main soilborne pathogens involved in cotton and soybean seedling diseases in order to improve their management.
